On Wednesday 25 June, we officially launched Big Life Adventure to the public, live from Glastonbury Festival. We chose this iconic setting to mark our national rollout in a bold and unexpected way, broadcasting a livestream at 4pm to share our vision with the world.
As our CEO Niki Wakelin put it:
“What’s great about launching at Glastonbury is that Big Life Adventure is all about showing up where people don’t expect us. We’re building a brave, curious, and joyful digital community for adults with learning disabilities, a space that’s safe, empowering, and full of real connection. So, where better to share our vision than one of the most iconic festivals in the world?”
From Surrey to Somerset
Big Life Adventure has grown out of years of work within the Peak15 Group, which includes The Butterfly Project, based in Horsham. We’ve developed the platform in close collaboration with the people we support, listening to users, families, and support workers to build something that genuinely meets their needs.
Over the past year, we’ve quietly built momentum through a successful pilot phase, the onboarding of early adopters, and continuous learning from our community. Our design and technology partner, Athlon, has been a huge part of this journey, helping us create a platform that’s inclusive, intuitive, and safe by design.
What’s Next?
The Glastonbury livestream marks the beginning of a wider rollout. Big Life Adventure is now open to the public, and we’re actively welcoming new users to the platform.
As well as supporting individuals directly, we’re also developing partnerships with colleges, support providers, and local authorities to embed the platform into wider care and education settings.
Behind the Scenes
Our launch was supported by a teaser campaign across TikTok, Instagram and Facebook in the run-up to Glastonbury. While the setting may have been high-profile, the message remains simple: People with learning disabilities deserve digital spaces that are designed with them, not just for them.
